Edwin R. 'Tony' Anthony III, trade group executive

Edwin R. "Tony" Anthony III, 63, who had been a vice president of the Edison Electric Institute, a trade association for investor-owned power companies, died March 5 at his home in Ellicott City after a heart attack.

After holding public relations positions at Pepco and what is now the National Mining Association, Mr. Anthony joined the Edison Electric Institute in 1983. At the time of his death, he was vice president for corporate affairs and member relations.

Edwin Rumsey Anthony III was born in Washington. He was a 1969 journalism graduate of the University of Maryland.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Julie Jackson Anthony of Ellicott City; four children, Melissa Matson of Durham, N.C., Jennifer Jones of Waxhaw, N.C., Carey Cooper of Cockeysville, Md., and Michael Anthony of New York; and six grandchildren.
