Mary P. Norcia, artist, volunteer
Mary P. Norcia, 90, an artist who volunteered at Andrews Air Force Base, died Feb. 28 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. She had lung cancer.
Mrs. Norcia was an oil painter and fabric artist who specialized in art quilting. She exhibited her work at Air Force bases where her husband was stationed, including Andrews.
While stationed at Andrews during the 1960s and '70s, she was a nurses' aide at Malcolm Grow Hospital and a board member of an officers' wives' club, where she chaired the welfare committee. From 1985 until 2005, she volunteered at the base's thrift shop.
She was born Mary Adelina Parise in Old Forge, Pa. She had lived in Clinton from 1961 until last year, when she moved to Ginger Cove, a retirement community in Annapolis.
Her husband of 68 years, retired Air Force Lt. Col. Benjamin Norcia, died last year.
Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Norcia Phillips of Bowie, and a grandson.
