How Free for All serves readers

Regarding Philip Schaenman's letter about indulging mistakes in The Post [Free for All, March 12]:

Although it was gallant of him to come to the support of Post staff, I believe he misunderstands the point of Free for All. It exists precisely so that readers can complain about typos, coverage, headlines, comics, bias and whatever else irks them about The Post. That is its purpose. If nitpickers, feminists and humorless pedants stopped writing in to complain, there would be no Free for All.
