The Smithsonian Institution may have gone through some dismal times in recent years, but it still appears to have a sense of humor.
Art
The "Garden of Cosmos" exhibition at the Sackler Gallery carries onlookers -- in leaps -- to places they've never been.
Ledelle Moe's sculpture seems to hover in an in-between state, which is no easy task for art made of concrete and steel.
You could say that emerging Irish artist Nick Miller is the un-Morandi, as Miller travels in his van that serves as a studio on wheels.
Translucent images of long ago, of black men and women, backs bent, picking cotton under an unforgiving sun, are artistically displayed on standing glass panels in a museum carved out of an old brick gin mill in the Mississippi Delta.
