Immigration: The NYT urges the Senate to kill an amendment to the immigration reform bill proposed by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) that would destroy the legislation's attempt to create a "path to legal status for an estimated 12 million immigrants" in the United States ... the WaPo urges Congress to remember immigrants' impact on the U.S. economy as it debates changes to the immigration reform bill: "The latest wave of immigrants -- legal and illegal, skilled and unskilled -- has stimulated enormous economic activity and wealth generation in this country, and it is implausible that the American economy would fare as well without them," the editors write ... the WaPo also notes that the fee for obtaining a green card is set to rise by an average of 66 percent next month, and encourages Congress to set aside funds for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services bureau so that it
