Palin Rips Obama on Social Security 'Fear and Panic,' but Tangles Health Policy Descriptions

By Perry Bacon Jr. PENSACOLA , Fla. -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin accused Barack Obama of practicing "old-style politics" and misleading voters in his attacks on Sen. John McCain's Social Security views, continuing her criticism of the Democratic nominee. "Beware! No presidential election cycle is complete without the Democratic candidate coming down here to Florida to stir up fear and panic on this issue," Palin said. "And if you expected any better from the guy who promised to get rid of these old style politics, you're in for a disappointment, because Barack Obama has exploited this issue." Obama, in both his speeches and television commercials in Florida, has suggested McCain's support for allowing people to invest some of the money they would otherwise pay in Social Security taxes into personal accounts would have resulted in huge losses for elderly people as the stock market dropped sharply in recent weeks.
