Mark Kirk is taking to the Chicago airwaves with two new ads designed to re-frame the Senate race. The first ad, entitled "Risky", notes that Kirk's Senate opponent -- state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias (D) -- is "only 34 years old...but what a 34 years it's been." The ad's narrator goes to to accuse Giannoulias of making "risky loans to convicted mobsters" while working at his family's bank, which subsequently failed and was seized by federal authorities. The second commercial compares the positions of Kirk and Giannoulias on the environment -- and BP in particular. "Mark Kirk won praise for helping stop BP when it tried to pollute Lake Michigan," says the ad's narrator, adding that "Alexi Giannoulias' top aide was a Mark Kirk - alexigiannoulias - Lake Michigan - United States Senate - Chicago
