The Going Out Gurus
of the washingtonpost.com City Guide
Thursday, August 21, 2008; 1:00 PM

Every Thursday at 1 p.m. ET, washingtonpost.com's City Guide experts share their best bets for local flavor, great dates and family fun. Got plans? Great. Need plans? Just ask. We have the skinny on the bars and clubs, concerts, kitchens, theaters and special events that keep life interesting. We're going out gurus, and we're at your service.

Of course, we're happy to answer questions about local entertainment, but we need to hear from you, too. Introduce us to the coolest DJ or the fastest bartender you've encountered. Sound off on the week's best concert or the city's best burger. Tell us about the best place to amuse little kids or a big art fan. Together we can plan fun ways to spend weekdays, weekends, dates and holidays. The pleasure is ours, and yours.

Each week a different guru will act as host or hostess, but the entire staff is at your service. If you're looking for more ideas, see the City Guide or read transcripts of past Got Plans? discussions.

The transcript follows:

washingtonpost.com: Hi chat people. We're ready to get down to business. Fritz and Rhome are off in some very different foreign locales, leaving Anne, Stephanie, Jen, Janet, Julia and me, David, here with you on this lovely Thursday. What's on your mind? Let's get to it...

_______________________

Arlington, Va.: I think I've read about a bar on this chat that has a lot of "stuff" to do (i.e. darts, pool, shuffleboard, arcade games, ping pong?). Can you give me a reminder or suggest anything else along these lines?

Stephanie: I went to Rocket Bar recently and they had all kinds of stuff going on, including board games, shuffleboard and pool. Fritz also just wrote about the newly opened Breadsoda and they have darts, pool and Wii.

_______________________

Arlington, Va.: Gurus, I've been meaning to check-out the "U2 3-D" show on Imax but now I can't find the listing on the Smithsonian website. Is it no longer playing? Please tell me it ain't so!

Jen: Sorry, Arlington. It be so. It's always possible it could return, but I doubt it will for a while. I've been trying to figure out when, if ever, "U2 3-D" is coming to DVD. (Not that watching at home can compare to Imax, but it's better than nothing.) So far, I haven't found any info.

On the plus side, you can see "Dark Knight" in Imax at both Natural History and Udvar Hazy.

_______________________

Music Lover in D.C.: Hope you are all doing well. I am planning on going to the Shooter Jennings show tonight at the State Theatre and am trying to figure out the best time to get their. The State's site says that the show starts at 8:30 but also notes that Sons of Bill will also be playing. Any idea what time Shooter may take the stage? Thanks.

David: I hope you are doing well! Get there by 9 and you should be good to go. Shooter probably won't be on stage until 9:30 or so, but getting there early is better than getting there late and missing some.

_______________________

Washington, D.C.: Hey guys. A week or so ago in Weekend section there was a piece on kayaking on the potomac. Have any of you done it? Do you have to wear a life vest, go through "training" etc? Or can you just jump in and head off for an hour or more? Looking for something physical to do on the weekends. Thanks!

Stephanie: It depends on what kind of kayaking you're planning on doing. If you want to drop in by Roosevelt Island for a serene little jaunt, then you can rent a boat and get going. But if you're thinking more along the lines of learning to do eskimo rolls and hitting up some rapids, then definitely seek out a guide. And either way, I would bring a life vest.

_______________________

Getting Married, Va.: So I just got engaged this weekend, and I'm much more giddy than I ever would have imagined! But, we started talking about a spring wedding and the reality of having to find a place and plan the blessed event is setting in. Does anyone have suggestions of nice wedding/reception venues, perhaps a couple of hours outside D.C. with a view of the mountains? One idea is to find a nice vineyard that could accommodate 100-150. Any ideas??

Julia: You know, my wedding's caterer, the affordably priced R & R, had a lot of contracts with vineyards and country clubs in not-too-far Va. You might try checking out the Venues tab on their site.

Other places that come to mind? Meadowlark Gardens and Oatlands Plantation. I also met a girl in a Pilates class who got married at the Ashby Inn. (Pilates classes are packed with fascinating wedding-related discussions, naturally.)

_______________________

Washington, D.C.: I got a press release about this weekend's DC Jam Session (I'm a blogger). Is this a new tradition by DC United to enhance the "game day" experience a la' the Redskins? Will it be a madhouse? The lineup looks pretty good, and it is free beer. What do you think?

David: Our United experts are in Europe and South America, respectively, so I guess I'll tackle this one. This "Jam Session" is sponsored by HiBall, who do a lot of Blocktoberfest-type events in the area, and this is like a mini-version of that, complete with token appearance by Mr. Greengenes. There are a bunch of different packages that include admission to just the jam session, jam session + game, etc. So the "free beer" is if you spend $50 on the game + session, so it's not exactly free. If you go, write in next week with a report, will ya?

_______________________

Wait, re: Dark Knight in Imax: Is it really showing at Natural History? I didn't see it on their website and I thought it was only playing at the Air & Space in Chantilly.

Jen: It is, it is. And it's on the Smithsonian Imax Web site, I just looked moments ago.

Chaney tells no lies, my friend. Well, at least not on purpose.

_______________________

Washington, D.C.: Hey gurus- do any of you have a recommendation for restaurants in San Fran? I'm staying with a friend, and as a thank you I'd like to take her out for a nice dinner while I'm there. Any good suggestions? Thanks for always having answers to some pretty random questions. you're like my Life Gurus.

Stephanie: Where to begin? Since you didn't really narrow it down by price/cuisine, I'll just throw a few out there: First Crush is a delicious restaurant and wine bar right by Union Square, E Tutto Qua has some of the best Italian in North Beach (and not so touristy as Stinking Rose and others) and Luna Park has amazing "California cuisine" in the Mission. Have fun!

_______________________

Alexandria, Va.: Hello friends. Myself with a bunch of friends were gonna check out Mike Birbiglia at the later showing on friday at the D.C. Improv. My question is with the Improv. I have never seen a show there. Do I have to worry about this show selling out or should I buy my tickets in advance? I'm not sure on the seating either so would it be smart to get there super early?

David: With all the hype we've been giving Mike Birbiglia we can't imagine these shows won't sell out. Well, I'm not so sure about that, but getting tickets in advance is always good for peace of mind, so why wait? Seating is first-come, first-served, so you might want to get there on the early side and get some food if getting a good spot is important. It's not like it's too terrible if you're off to the side, but being in the middle is always better.

_______________________

Jam Session: What time does it start? What time does the game start? Where can I see the invite/ press release? Is there something in the Weekend Section?

David: Here's some info on the DC United Jam Session. The event starts at 2 p.m., game starts at 7:30.

_______________________

Clarendon: Do you have any recommendations for yoga classes for beginners in the Clarendon/Ballston area?

Stephanie: I just checked out Edge Yoga (on Wilson and Adams) and really liked it. The class wasn't crowded at all, so the instructor was able to give a lot of personal attention to each person, which is great for a beginner.

_______________________

Washington, D.C.: Seriously, Blonde Charity Mafia? Who ARE these people? (Wonder if they'll be at that Idiotarod, haha.) Any word on where they'll be filming so I can avoid the mess of their existence?

Julia: All right, all right. Kinda figured we'd get a little Late Night Shots bashing after the news about this Lifetime reality show. To answer your question briefly: Don't want to be on the new TV show? Don't hit up Georgetown establishments like Smith Point, et al.

I'm not going to lay out and defend the show, because I think it's never a good idea to put your partying self on TV, but I happen to know some of the people who run in the Blonde Charity Mafia circle (including one of my bestest girlfriends in the world) and they've always been really nice to me -- a not-quite-as-well-dressed chick from the other side of Rock Creek Park. I guess all I'm saying is, don't be so quick to judge people you don't even know.

Once the show starts, though, I suppose that's fair game. That's the brilliance of reality TV.

Re: Bar with Stuff to do: Another option for the poster trying to find a bar with 'stuff to do' is the Rock and Roll Hotel on H Street. Upstairs there are arcade games and pool.

Stephanie: Another option for fun "stuff."

_______________________

Dupont Circle: Just wanted to thank you all for taking my question two weeks ago and recommending places to eat before seeing Jerry Springer. I went to Pollys and while I can see that it would be a fun place for a few drinks, the food was terrible! I mean really really terrible. I ate buffalo wings three days in a row that week and the ones from Pollys were by far the worst. They were soggy, the blue cheese dressing was watery and only tasted like blue cheese if I tried really hard, and there was a soggy piece of lettuce rather than celery. Yuck. Thai Regent for sure next time!

Julia: Oh no! Thai Regent guy (girl?), I'm so sorry for steering you wrong! I've always had really good food there -- like the grilled cheese is probably my favorite grilled cheese in the city. And I was just in a couple of weeks ago.

Anyway, worth another visit before another rec. Thanks for writing back.

Capitol Hill: Happy Thursday, GOGs.

Does anything special happen in this city for Labor Day weekend? I've lived here three years but haven't really paid attention in years past. I'm asking because my parents are coming into town for the long weekend and I'm drawing a blank on things to entertain them with. They've already done monuments, Georgetown (and waterfront), most museums, Eastern Market, etc... They can be placated with nice weather and good food and drink, but I'd love to show them more of D.C. beyond the normal touristy attractions. Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Anne: Not so much in the city, but there are lots of festivals in the 'burbs for Labor Day. Glen Echo is a great place to take visitors, and there's an art show and lots of Irish music going on that weekend. The free Greenbelt Labor Day Festival is enormous, with Shakespeare, bands (the Orioles, Fabulous Hubcaps) and small-town pride on display: hula hoop contest, talent show, diaper derby, etc. There's also a parade there, and Gaithersburg and Kensington usually have parades, too. And everyone knows that parades are always bigger when there's an election around the bend.

_______________________

Washington, D.C.: Just a heads up about tomorrow night's gig by the Pine Leaf Boys at Glen Echo: while they are a great young band from Southwest Louisiana, they are not a zydeco band. They play traditional Cajun and Creole music, which are some of the roots, along with blues and R and B, of the music that would eventually become zydeco.

David: OK, thanks. Musicology. Main point is, Pine Leaf Boys at Glen Echo tomorrow night should be a plenty good time.

_______________________

Washington, D.C: .Hey Gurus! My parents are coming to town this weekend, and I want to share with them the delicious goodness of Vace pizza. Unfortunately, they only do takeout. Can you suggest any places around there to sit or even a grassy area to picnic? Thanks!

Anne: Actually, I think it's a good thing Vace only does takeout. That way, you can bring it wherever you want to go: picnic by the water, back to your place, while you're people-watching and sitting on one of the stone benches on the bridge over Klingle Road, or my personal favorite way to eat it: in line at the Uptown. The Zoo is a very short walk away, too.

_______________________

Downtown: Hi Gurus,

So this isn't a DC going out question, but I don't know who to turn to. I'm going to New York over Labor Day, and according to OpenTable, it's restaurant week up there. But, I don't know anything about New York. Any suggestions of great places to eat? I'll be staying in the Upper West Side.

Thanks for your help!

Stephanie: I guess this will be the week where I answer questions about cities where I used to live! Looking at the list of restaurant week participants, Thalassa jumps out; it's one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. If you aren't wedded to doing the RW thing, then I would also recommend Paola's on the Upper East Side (my favorite Italian of all time) and Cafe Frida on the Upper West Side for somewhat upscale Mexican.

_______________________

Gaithersburg, Md.: Heya GOG! My boyfriend is returning next week after spending two months in the Middle East. I'm trying to pick a restaurant for a nice welcome home night out, and want to try something new. I'd really love something quiet/romantic, moderately priced, in Montgomery County, or maybe NW DC. After two months of falafel and shawarma, I think he'd really love some place with nice steak or seafood selections. Can you help?

Julia: It's not quiet by any means, but you might consider Redwood, the new restaurant on Bethesda Lane. I just went last night and had the most delicious goat cheese souflee dessert in the history of dessert-dom. David Craig or Grapseed might be other options in Bethesda.

If you do want to try D.C., consider Le Chat Noir, a cute little French bistro in upper Northwest, or BlackSalt for seafood in the Palisades.

_______________________

Labor Day...: Isn't Arlington having a festival of some kind? I also intend to hit up Theodore Roosevelt island, a water park, and maybe even some of the movies at the museums... I think there's lots to do beyond the typical if you really look!

David: Yup, the Planet Arlington World Music Festival is Saturday of Labor Day weekend at Netherlands Carillion. I liked last year's lineup better with the Skatalites and Hugh Masakela, but it should still be a fun time.

_______________________

Rockville, Md.: If you had to pick one of the two Jim Henson programs at AFI this weekend, which would you pick. For a grown up Jim Henson fan, no kids involved. I still regret that I didn't take a few hours off during law school exams to go to the funeral at St. John the unfinished.

Jen: Hmmm, that's a tough call. The "Commercials and Experiments" one is exactly what it sounds like -- more experimental stuff. I suspect that audience will skew more toward the adult side. "Time Piece" is also pretty cool, if you haven't seen it.

On the other hand, "The Puppetry" one sounds pretty great, too. Plus, you get a classic episode of "The Muppet Show"! That's actually the one I would choose, but only because I've seen "Time Piece."

Honestly, you can't go wrong either way. Close your eyes and point. That's my advice.

_______________________

L' Enfant Plaza, D.C.: U23D is still showing once a night up in Baltimore at the Science Center at 7:45. www.imax.com has all of the IMAX movies worldwide listed.

Be warned about the new IMAX branded screens at a bunch of multiplexes. They're not really IMAX screens. They're just regular theater screens with a higher definition projector on them. It's not the real big screen IMAX experience.

Jen: Oh, thank you for pointing this out. I always forget about the Baltimore Imax, but that is definitely an option.

_______________________

Chinatown: Tomorrow night, my boyfriend and I are going on our first real date in months (yay!). Reservations at Oya at 8. Suggestions for a low-key place to grab a drink afterwards?

Julia: I mean, how lowkey are we talkin' here? There's Harry's, a decidedly divey place that offers Miller Lite and free popcorn?

Assuming you want something a little more special to follow a night out, a glass of wine at Proof's bar or a chocolate-infused cocktail at the scene-y Co Co. Sala might fit the bill.

_______________________

Adam Morgan, D.C.: So my friends and I are going to AFI to watch "Lawrence of Arabia" on the big screen and being the city people that we are hardly ever go outside the District lines other than for work. So what places do you guys suggest for drinks before and after that might have some food as well? Thanks in advance, guys.

Jen: Quarryhouse Tavern is a short walk from the theater and is a good option for drinks. Ceviche is located in the Silver Plaza area just behind the theater. And Cubano's is a short walk across Colesville, and a block or so over, on Fidler Lane.

I haven't there in a while, but last time I went, I had a mean mojito.

_______________________

Metro Center: Hey gurus! I'm interested in going to a showing of a film from the HK film festival at the Freer Gallery. The website says free tickets are distributed an hour before showtime. Have any of you tried to see a movie here and if so is it normally very crowded?

Thanks!

David: It's been a while since I've seen something at the Freer but you should be OK. It's a pretty big theater, 300 seats or so, and demand isn't usually that high. Especially at this dead time of the summer it shouldn't be much of an issue.

_______________________

Arlington, Va.: I submitted this questions before the chat, but not sure it went through. Sorry if it did and you just didn't answer the first time! Are there any open-to-the-public racquetball courts in the area? Indoor or outdoor is fine. Thanks guys.

Stephanie: I know the Arlington YMCA has racquetball courts, but I think you would need to be accompanied by a member. Chatters? Any other ideas?

_______________________

Washington, D.C.: One question. Two parts.

Where are the best buffalo wings in the city? The region? (Bonus if they have multiple football games going on Sunday)

Julia: Funny. Fritz and I have talked about doing a story on this before, but we haven't gotten around to it. He's going to kill me if I get this wrong (since I've asked him like six times), but I think he's particularly partial to the wings at Nellie's on U Street.

Stetson's wings used to hold the key to my heart, but alas, their wings just aren't as good anymore. Now, it's probably Tonic, but that's probably mostly because of convenience, given that they're across the street from my house.

The wings at the Crystal City Sports Pub aren't bad and you can't beat that place for number of TVs per square foot.

_______________________

Vace: Is the Bethesda location just as good as the DC one? I've never tried it but think I may this weekend, I live in downtown Silver Spring so it would have to be worth the 10-15 min drive to pick it up. I just can't stomach Z Pizza anymore......

Julia: Wow, seriously? I love Z Pizza!

I've also always been fond of the D.C. one but never made it to the Bethesda one. Chatters?

_______________________

Arlington, Va.: yoga in clarendon -- lululemon does free classes on sundays, so that's a good no-cost way to find a studio.... i haven't been yet, but if other people think it's a yay or nay maybe they hsould add on here.

Stephanie: Lululemon is another great option.

_______________________

Freer tips: Some friends of mine usher at the Freer sometimes, and they just never know - some shows are absolutely mobbed and the tickets are gone instantly, and some you can stroll up and get them right before the show starts. Iranian films are a complete madhouse, for example.

David: Thanks for the tip ... it really can change from movie to movie. Makes it hard to say for sure what the best advice is.

_______________________

Alexandria, Va.: My husband and I have recently had some sad news given to us and really need a great weekend. Can you recommend some fun outdoor events this weekend? Romantic dining ideas or spots? Good jazz and/or good comedic relief (stand up or play)? Thanks a bunch!

Anne: The Beach Party at the Torpedo Factory sounds like good escapism to me, and right by you, too. Or, I would hit the Sculpture Garden to hear the Young Lions tomorrow night -- that could hit the outdoors/romantic/jazz angle. Have we convinced you that Mike Birbiglia is funny yet? If there are still tickets left, go get 'em. Right now. On the opposite end of the spectrum from his sweet observational lines that can't possibly offend anyone, there's the the Jerry Springer opera. I haven't been, but Peter Marks describes the case as being in "a cocoon of comic accomplishment." Seems like the kind of "South Park"-level shocker to block anything else out of your mind.

_______________________

Cubano's also has yummy food: My bf is in love with the mojo.

Jen: They do indeed. Thanks for the reminder.

_______________________

Alexandria, Va.: My husband and I are thinking of going to the Newseum Saturday, late afternoon and then dinner at the District Chophouse (is it good?). Question is, the museum closes at 5, we don't want to eat that early, so any other suggestions?

Stephanie: You could go to E Street for an offbeat movie and then grab a late dinner. Or just grab a drink, either somewhere nice, or at a bar where you can also take in the Olympics.

_______________________

Washington, D.C.: Hey Gurus,

I heard of a The Cure tribute band from California called 'The Cured' playing at Clarendon Grill tonight. Have you heard of this band before? I'm an old The Cure fan, but I'm not up to go see any gimmick act on stage...Any idea if this event will draw a decent crowd? Just wondering if it is worth to cross the bridge tonight to check them out or if I should just listen to an old CD and stay in town.

Cheers!

David: Well, I mean, it's a Cure cover band played at Clarendon Grill. Not trying to knock anyone, but, well, I'd probably just stay home and listen to the old CD. But the whole cover band thing is largely lost on me, even though it only seems to pick up steam every month. I mean, just look at the State Theatre's upcoming schedule, man.

RE: AFI eats: My favorite food near AFI is the $23 3-course dinner in the bar at Ray's the Classics. Lots of other good options, though, including Jackie's (modern American), Mandalay (burmese), Adega (wine bar with surprisingly good food). There's an Italian place down the block from RTC that we like to (Da Marco?).

Jen: I thought Jackie's might be a bit far, if they just want to walk somewhere. But definitely a fine option if they're driving. Or not lazy like me.

If you head down to that end of Silver Spring, Olazzo's is a nice choice as well. Thanks for all of these suggestions.

_______________________

RE: Kayaking on Roosevelt Island: Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but how does one kayak at Roosevelt Island? I just looked at the park's website, but I can't find stuff about how to rent a kayak. Is that available, or does one need to bring a kayak to use? thanks.

Stephanie: Roosevelt Island is a good drop-in point for a boat, but you'll need to rent elsewhere.

_______________________

Anonymous: Long-time reader, first-time poster, here. (If you had a nickel for every time you read that, right?) I'm getting together with a friend that I haven't seen in years, and I'm looking for a place for a leisurely lunch on a Friday afternoon. We're both pretty adventurous eaters, so there are no limitations with respect to the menu (I have been craving Spanish food lately, though). As far as location, I was thinking Cleveland Park or U Street (these are areas I just want to explore more), but I'm open to suggestions for pretty much anywhere in D.C. as long as getting there by metro or the bus is fairly easy. If it helps, my standbys for eating out are Etete, Bukom, Rasika, Creme, and the Sala Thai on U Street (sorry to any Thai food purists out there).

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Julia: Hmmm. If you didn't want to do Creme again, Ulah Bistro could be an option. I think Creme has better food, but Ulah's a good value for the price and you could get a nice affordable bottle of wine there.

To scratch your Spanish itch, I've always liked Sabores in Cleveland Park.

I think U Street's a more fun neighborhood to explore with your friend after lunch, but I should also point out that that block U Street will be sort of fun and festive on Friday afternoon, in honor of Ben's Chili Bowl's 50th anniversary.

_______________________

Racquetball: Chinquapin recreation center in Alexandria rents three courts to the public.

http://alexandriava.gov/recreation/info/default.aspx?id=12326#chinquapin

Stephanie: An option for the racquetball seeker.

_______________________

Washington, D.C.: I've had the pizza at both Vace locations, and while both are better than pretty much anything you'll find in the area, for some reason, I like the Bethesda location's pizza a bit more...

Julia: Fascinating. I used to be a bit of a Vace's addict, but once I had the Italian Store, I couldn't ever go back to such a small cheese ration.

_______________________

Arlington: To the girl looking for low key spot for dinner after Oya. How about Poste coutyard since the weather is so nice.

Julia: A fabulous suggestion.

_______________________

Dupont Circle: GLOW-VER park or GLOVE-R park? Just wanted to see where you stand.

Anne: This question provoked shocking news at our circle of desks -- David and Julia insisted on GLOVE-r, while Jen, Steph and I are on Team GLOW-ver. We're all just stunned that we'd never figured out our pronuciational schism before now, especially since there's so much happening in that hood these days. Thank goodness John Kelly gives real answers.

_______________________

For the Adams Morgan Snob: 1. Ummm Silver Spring isn't that far, I live in DC now but it's literally over the border of DC. Don't try to be a "cool" city person, you sound silly.

2. McGinty's Public House is a good place for drinks and has suprisingly good food for a bar.

Jen: Another good suggestion -- thanks.

And no, Silver Spring isn't that far. But it's amazing how easy it is to stick to our own comfort zones and not venture beyond our own neighborhoods. I'll give our reader the benefit of doubt and assume he/she wasn't being snobby, just genuinely didn't know the neighborhood well.

I'm feeling diplomatic and up-with-people-y today.

_______________________

Washington, D.C.: Hi Gurus! Hope it's not too late to get a question in. My friend and I are meeting for dinner tonight and are facing a total lack of inspiration as to were to go. We almost always seem to end up at places like Matchbox, but are looking for something a little more adventurous and with healthy food options, preferably somewhere around Dupont, Downtown or Gallery Place. Any thoughts?

Julia: The cantina at Darlington House, perhaps? Regent Thai is another good one. I think Proof and Rasika are doing amazing things in Gallery Place, but you'll pay much more heavily for dinner out there.

_______________________

Arlington, Va.: For wings, Hard Times Cafe has some of the better ones around here in my opinion.

Julia: Yeah, I guess, for better or worse, we try not to recommend chains, but I'll back you up on this one. Fantastic wings.

_______________________

Re: District Chophouse: Don't waste your hard-earned money at District Chophouse. Their food is way overpriced for what you get, and not terribly tasty. We were there a couple of weeks ago and left pretty disappointed.

Stephanie: For the Newseum-goers. Take heed!

_______________________

Gazpacho thank you: To all the folks that contributed to the LONG list of places I can get good gazpacho from last week - thanks! I am working my way through the list! Yum!

Julia: Oh, sweet. Nice to know!

_______________________

Annapolis, Md.: Please? Good, quintessential Annapolis place for crabs and beer?

Julia: Mike's Crab House. Mike's Crab House. Mike's Crab House. It's on the South River, so you have to drive from downtown, but it's seriously my favorite place for crabs in the whole area.

_______________________

New to town: Who is Mr. Greengenes? A local celeb?

David: Um ... as much as a very popular cover band can be considered local celebs, sure. Although I'm not even sure they are locals.

_______________________

Blonde Charity Mafia: to clarify, not judging the people, but the whole genre of show and the perception of that lifestyle. If they are actually really raising money and doing some good, more power to them, but it sounds like a show about how young and wealthy waste their time -- we have enough of those, no?

Julia: Fair enough. Thanks for the clarification.

Another chatter wrote in saying, a few, uh, things we probably can't print about the BCM girls, but s/he also tells us that Bo Blair (of Smith Point, Surfside, etc.) and Fritz Brogan (of Gryphon Room) won't be letting the cameras in their places, so K Street Clubs, here come the cameras.

_______________________

washingtonpost.com: That does it for us. Thanks as always for stopping by with your questions and suggestions. See you next week.

_______________________

Capitol Hill: I want to go produce picking this weekend, but I'm not sure the best spot.

I know you answer this question often, but where is your favorite "U Pick" around? Right now, I'm thinking either Larriland Farm in Maryland or Great Country Farms in Virginia.

Thank you for your help!!!

Julia: I know we're done, but I'm always fond of Butler's Orchard. Hope that helps!
