Hiking the Grand Canyon

Each year, more than 4.5 million people visit Grand Canyon National Park. Fewer than 1 percent venture to the bottom of the canyon, and even fewer hike it rim to rim. For three days in late August, Washington Post staff writer John Deiner, his wife and two of their friends did just that, capturing the following images in the process.
