Lt. Col. Gregory D. Gadson, 41, had just attended a memorial service for two soldiers killed by an IED when his convoy encountered a roadside bomb in southern Baghdad. Gadson, who had both legs amputated above the knee, is one of 22,000 American casualties from IEDs in Iraq and Afghanistan.
