A Mature Love

For Jim Cieslak and Ellen Tauscher, dating -- all over again -- wasn't a high priority. Then, they became good friends and eventually, husband and wife.

After the death of his first wife, Jim Cieslak didn't think he would be able to find a new love -- then he met Ellen Tauscher. Friendship turned into romance. The couple was married on June 27.

The ceremony was held on the stone patio of Tauscher's Northwest Washington home in the Kalorama neighborhood.

The pair wanted their wedding to be, in Tauscher's words, "a celebration of our lifetime commitment to each other, and the blending of our families."

After sharing vows, the newlyweds, along with their 120 guests, headed across the street to a dinner reception at the Woodrow Wilson House.

The original plan was to have the entire affair in the backyard of Tauscher's home, but as the guest list grew from around 30 to 120 guests, the couple realized that wasn't possible. They did return later to her patio for dancing.

Tauscher recently resigned as a U.S. representative for California's District 10 and is now the undersecretary of state for Arms Control and International Security. Some of the couple's wedding guests included Sens. Dianne Feinstein, pictured lower left, and Tom Daschle, not pictured.
