At focus: The Salahis

Highlights of the lives and careers of Tareq and Michaele Salahi, the couple who attended last the White House state dinner, held last month in Washington, without an invitation.

A 1984 high school yearbook photo of Michaele Salahi, whose name then was Missy Holt. She began referring to herself as "Michaele" in the '90s and took the name "Salahi" upon marrying Tareq Salahi. She and Tareq, known for having crashed last month's White House state dinner, still reside in Virginia -- the state in which Tareq and Michaele, then-Missy -- grew up.

Tareq Salahi raises a bottle of champagne on June 7, 2009, at Oasis Vineyard. His parents founded the winery in Hume, Va., and in 1998, Salahi started calling himself "president" of the company, although, according to court documents, he was never elected as such by the board of directors.
