The Obamas' weekend getaway to N.C.
President Obama and the first lady leave their daughters and the White House behind for a trip to picturesque Asheville.
Air Force One lands in Asheville, population 73,000.
At 12 Bones Smokehouse, there was no special treatment for the first couple. One employee noted, "Everyone waits in line here."
The president obliges a fellow 12 Bones patron with a photo op.
Obama returned to the site of an October 2008 campaign stop. On this trip, Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton tweeted, "plates of ribs here at 12 Bones Smokehouse give new meaning to 'too big to fail.' "
The Obamas await their order of ribs, greens, baked beans, mac and cheese, corn bread and two sweet teas.
After lunch, the Obamas planned a hike to work off the calories.
The Obamas speak with park rangers before a nature walk in the Blue Ridge Mountains. One ranger gave the president a hat.
Once on the trail, the couple slipped out of the media's view.
