A shortlist of potential 'Idol' replacement judges

Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler and actress/singer Jennifer Lopez have been confirmed as judges on the upcoming season of Fox's "American Idol."

A triple threat in the entertainment industry, dancer-turned-actress-turned-singer Jennifer Lopez will bring her expertise to the judges' panel on "American Idol."

'Idol' host Ryan Seacrest also announced that legendary rocker Steven Tyler of Aerosmith would be appearing on the singing competition as a judge.

In prior weeks, it had been rumored that real estate mogul Donald Trump, who made "You're fired!" his catchphrase on "The Apprentice," was up for consideration.

It was reported that Jessica Simpson had also been in touch with "American Idol" executives about the possibility of taking over for Simon Cowell.

Former Poison frontman Bret Michaels battled back from a brain hemorrhage in April to appear on last season's Idol finale. Michaels made it no secret that he hoped to be picked as the next judge.
