Finalist No. 9: Keinyo White
Article | Keinyo White had just about given up on D.C. -- until we found him. The District native -- born at Sibley, high school was Edmund Burke -- moved away in the mid-1990s because there wasn't much happening, art-wise. Galleries? Not enough for his taste. A friend encouraged him to ship out to Los Angeles, where he found art venues aplenty, plus work as a storyboard artist for film and TV. Then, six years ago, he and his partner moved to Christchurch, New Zealand (where she's from). He's shown work there and in L.A. and New York. But never here, in his home town.
