National Menorah lights up the White House Ellipse
To celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights, the National Hanukkah Menorah was lighted on the White House Ellipse by the Obama administration's senior Jewish official and two rabbis. Musical performances and latkes and doughnuts, traditional Hanukkah foods, rounded out the festivities.
High winds grab Rabbi Levi Shemtov's hat during the lighting of the menorah on the White House Ellipse. With him in the cherry picker are White House budget director Jacob Lew, center, and Rabbi Abraham Shemtov.
