Town & Country bartender works his magic one last time

Sambonn Lek is one of the best-known -- and best -- mixologists in Washington. Lek's last call at the Town & Country Lounge on Saturday will be a tough one; the Washington institution is closing for good, the latest in a series of farewells among the city's old-school hotel bars.

Sam Lek, behind the bar at the Town & Country Lounge, which is closing after more than six decades in the Mayflower Hotel. As part of a $5 million renovation, the Mayflower is shuttering the clubby old watering hole that's long served Washington elites, from presidents and senators to lobbyists, business leaders and journalists.
