Suspect killed in botched bank robbery in Takoma Park

A bank robbery gone awry Friday morning in Montgomery County left one police officer and at least two others injured and the suspected robber dead after being shot by police as he tried to escape with a hostage.

Police check out cars at the scene of the robbery. Six people were in the Capital One Bank when police were called shortly after 9:25 a.m., originally about a suspicious package and alter about a robbery in progress, police said.
