Egypt: Day 13

The main Egyptian opposition groups eased up on their insistence that President Hosni Mubarak step down immediately, agreeing instead on Sunday to join in talks at a more gradual pace. The developments did not appear to satisfy protesters. Thousands continued to occupy Tahrir Square on Sunday.

Anti-Mubarak protesters continue their demonstrations in Cairo. Many said they had no choice but to hold firm. If the demonstrations were to end prematurely, they said, Mubarak and Vice president Omar Suleiman would renege on their promises.
