The Senate confirmed most Supreme Court nominees in the past five decades with near-unanimous votes. Thomas and Rehnquist were among the nominees with the lowest support in the Senate. Three nominees were rejected, the most recent being Bork in 1987. About two-thirds of the justices were appointed by Republicans.
