A Cleric's Journey

A radical Egyptian cleric disappeared in 2003 from a Milan street, and Italian investigators charge that CIA operatives abducted him and flew him to two U.S. military bases in succession. The cleric, Hassan Mustafa Osama Nasr, was later taken to Egypt, where he was arrested and allegedly tortured. Italian authorities have issued arrest warrants for 22 CIA operatives, charging them with kidnapping and other crimes. CIA officials say the operation was cleared in advance by the Italian government.
