On the Chopping Block

President Bush has proposed eliminating the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), one of three AmeriCorps programs. Under the 12-year-old program, 18- to 24-year-olds live on five residential campuses for 10 months, working on service projects with an emphasis on homeland security and disaster relief. Here's a look at the NCCC program in recent years, as well as achievements since its inception in 1994.
