THE METROPOLIST: Immigrants Coming to the Area

There are times when our civilization seems defined by facts and numbers. Though the official U.S. Census is taken every 10 years, the federal nose counters keep at it in between with the American Community Survey. This table, which shows growing numbers of Asian and Latino immigrants (excluding Mexican immigrants), is the third in an occasional Metropolist feature looking at the 2005 survey. (Comparable data was not available for some less-populous counties.)
