Party Affiliation Shifts in Exurbs

The changing political landscape in Maryland and Virginia is illustrated by precincts that voted for one party's presidential candidate in 2000 and switched to the other party in 2004. Most significant was the increased number of Democratic precincts in Northern Virginia and Republican precincts in Maryland's exurbs.
