Ranking Urban Districts

The District ranks at or near the bottom among 11 major urban school districts studied on the National Assessment of Educational Progress. This is true for fourth- and eighth-graders in math and reading, regardless of economic class. The other cities are Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Houston, Los Angeles, New York and San Diego.
