Al-Qaeda Operatives Put Out of Action
After the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001, al-Qaeda's core framework was badly damaged by military strikes and arrests. Most of those captured or killed were tracked down in Pakistan between March 2002 and April 2006. None has been apprehended since then.
