Countermeasures

Among the counter-IED measures the United States has employed are, clockwise from upper left: fingerprinting; Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles, which have a V-shaped hull and raised chassis; uparmored Humvees; EA-6B Prowler electronic warfare planes; Fido, a "molecular sniffer" mounted on mobile robots, used as part of a Pentagon program called Dog's Nose; and center, the human eye.
