The Promise and Problems of Ethanol

Corn is currently the main source of ethanol in the United States despite its disadvantages. Cellulosic ethanol, which can be produced from forestry and crop waste products, is still too expensive to manufacture, but promises a greater energy return. A look at both types of ethanol:
