Shades of Difference on Key Issues
On two issues likely to come before the General Assembly next year, Marylanders hold nuanced views. A majority favor civil unions for same-sex couples, but more than half oppose marriage rights. And although six in 10 favor having a death penalty for convicted murderers, when given the option of life in prison without parole, a slim majority prefer that sentence.SOURCE: This Washington Post poll was conducted by telephone Oct. 18-22 among a random sample of 1,103 Maryland adults, including additional interviews with randomly selected residents of Baltimore and Prince George's County.
