Shades of Difference on Key Issues

On two issues likely to come before the General Assembly next year, Marylanders hold nuanced views. A majority favor civil unions for same-sex couples, but more than half oppose marriage rights. And although six in 10 favor having a death penalty for convicted murderers, when given the option of life in prison without parole, a slim majority prefer that sentence.
SOURCE: This Washington Post poll was conducted by telephone Oct. 18-22 among a random sample of 1,103 Maryland adults, including additional interviews with randomly selected residents of Baltimore and Prince George's County. The results from the full survey have a margin of error of 3 percentage points. Fieldwork by TNS of Horsham, Pa. | Tobey - The Washington Post - October 26, 2007
