Regional Campaign Contributions

Democratic presidential candidates raised more than twice as much money as Republicans from Washington region donors last year. In nearly every major jurisdiction in the region, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) surpassed Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) in fundraising. On the Republican side, donors favored Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) over former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.
