High Rates of Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis

Based on reports from 81 countries, the World Health Organization estimates that a half-million cases a year are resistant to two or more drugs commonly used to treat tuberculosis, about 5 percent of the 9 million new TB cases reported annually.
