MAP: Storms Compared

Cyclone Nargis and Hurricane Katrina made landfall at about the same wind speed. While much smaller in extent, Nargis killed many more people than Katrina, in part because houses in Burma are less substantial, the surge swept 25 miles inland and people had little warning.
