How the Contests Went

The long race between Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton finally came to an unofficial close Tuesday night after the candidates split primaries in South Dakota and Montana, a fitting end to perhaps the most competitive campaign of the modern era. Clinton dominated the voting in big states during their 54 contests, while Obama piled up delegates by winning more small states.
