Holy Cross Has Plans For HospitalGraphic | Montgomery County's major hospitals are all planning significant changes:
Suburban Hospital, Bethesda: Suburban has announced a $230 million expansion plan, to improve emergency room access, add private patient rooms, create physicians' offices, add parking, and modernize and enlarge its 15 operating rooms. Neighborhood activists oppose elements of the plan, including include the demolition of 23 single-family homes and the closing of one block of Lincoln Street.
Washington Adventist Hospital, Takoma Park: Washington Adventist Hospital wants to relocate from Takoma Park to the White Oak area near the border of Montgomery and Prince George's counties. The replacement hospital would have all private rooms, more space and more medical services. Hospital executives say they will work with Takoma Park officials to provide some kind of medical or community services on their current site.
Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring: Holy Cross has announced plans to build a 100-bed hospital on Montgomery College's Germantown campus. It also plans to open primary-care clinics in Wheaton and Gaithersburg to serve the uninsured, and make changes to the Silver Spring facility, which underwent a $90 million expansion in 2005.
