Metro Offers Rail Discount

Starting Jan. 4, Metro will offer a 50-cent discount on each rail fare when transferring from a bus and using a SmarTrip card. The discount amounts to minimal savings but represents a fairer distribution of discounts, which now are available only from rail to bus. Here is an example:

The long-promised change is scheduled to go into effect Jan. 4, the same day the agency is eliminating paper transfers.
