Behind the Big Paydays
Once relegated largely to business periodicals and management forums, the debate over executive compensation has erupted as a major issue in Congress and in international forums. Policymakers and investors have criticized the perks and bonuses going to top executives, salespeople and dealmakers at now-troubled companies. But public furor has centered on the compensation of chief executives at major corporations, whose multimillion-dollar packages must be disclosed in financial filings.
