Presidential Mementos

Thursday marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln. The interest in the 16th president is reflected in part by the number of mementos from his life that are collected, displayed and studied. Here are some, gathered after he was shot at Ford's Theatre on April 14, 1865.

Article | The flashlight beam lit up the dark interior of Abraham Lincoln's left boot, as if the inside of a tomb, and at the bottom was the smooth and shiny indentation made by the martyred president's heel.
