Taliban Forces Advance

This month, the Pakistani government struck a peace deal to allow the Taliban to impose strict Islamic law in the Swat District. Over the past few days, Taliban fighters have advanced from Swat into the neighboring districts of Buner and Shangla, raising fears that the Islamists are expanding their area of control well beyond the tribal belt along the Afghan border and getting too close to the capital.
