Staying on Track

During last year's debut of the "Car of Tomorrow" at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the new design combined with the track's unique surface caused previously reliable tires to shred almost as fast as teams could replace them. The caution-filled fiasco enraged drivers, annoyed fans and embarrassed tire manufacturer Goodyear. Goodyear has since put a year's worth of effort into developing a rubber compound that will keep tires out of the spotlight in Sunday's Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.
