Terror databases

Each day, waves of new information are fed into databases listing suspected terrorists. In the case of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, his name was entered into the Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (TIDE). But intelligence analysts determined it did not merit further referral to the Terrorist Screening Center, where his information would have been considered for several other agency watch lists, such as the Transportation Security Administration's "no-fly" and "selectee" list.
