Blue Line split

Metro managers want to split the Blue Line so that some of its rush-hour trains enter the District via the Yellow Line bridge over the Potomac River. They say this will accomplish three goals: improve reliability on the Orange and Blue lines, particularly at the Rosslyn tunnel; address the increasing demand for service to the eastern side of downtown Washington; and prepare for the Dulles Metrorail extension.
