Former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine

ABOUT GOVERNOR KAINE |  Timothy M. Kaine (D) was elected Virginia Governor in 2006. He served as governor through the Virginia Tech tragedy in 2007 and was selectedto head-up the Democratic National Committee after Howard Dean stepped down in early 2009. Kaine has faced a lot of criticism for focusing on his DNC position, perhaps over his own job as governor. His success or failure in that position will likely rest on who succeeds him - fellow Democrat Creigh Deeds, or Republican challenger Robert F. McDonnell.
