John Wall: Washington Wizards No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft
On June 24, the Washington Wizards selected 19-year-old John Wall as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft. The Wizards won the NBA draft lottery despite having just a 10.3 percent chance of doing so. Wall, a 6-foot-4 point guard, entered the draft after a freshman season at the University of Kentucky in which he averaged 16.6 points, 6.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game.
The Washington Wizards got off to an ominous start against the Oklahoma City Thunder . As the tradition goes at Verizon Center, the public address announcer asked fans to stand until the Wizards scored their first basket.
