Montgomery County lawmakers decided Tuesday that they are willing to offer builders incentives to construct denser developments near Metro stations, and they will use development fees to help improve a transit system that commuters complain is increasingly inadequate.


Two projects that would dramatically alter two neighborhoods in Northeast Washington received preliminary approval Monday night from the D.C. Zoning Commission.
