Guess Who? Tom Brady Leads Picks for the Midseason's Bests
Wednesday, November 7, 2007; Page E07
Most Valuable Player
Is there even any need for an explanation? He's thrown 33 touchdown passes and four interceptions for a team that's on pace to shatter the league's all-time scoring record and join the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only unbeaten clubs in NFL history. Yes, his offensive line is terrific, and his remade cast of wide receivers has made a difference. But it all starts with Brady.

WORTHY OF CONSIDERATION
2. Randy Moss, WR, Patriots
3. Peyton Manning, QB, Colts
5. Brett Favre, QB, Packers
6. Adrian Peterson, RB, Vikings
Best Comeback Player
Randy Moss, WR, Patriots
It's debatable whether someone should be rewarded for coming back from little more than his own indifference. But also there were some injuries involved, and it's indisputable that Moss again has become one of the game's more dominant and spectacular players after three relatively ordinary seasons. He has managed to fit in seamlessly with the selfless Patriots and has been a solid citizen. Moss also has made himself a ton of money after agreeing to rework his contract as part of the offseason trade that sent him from the Raiders to the Patriots, accepting a sizable pay cut but getting a shortened one-year deal in return that makes him eligible for unrestricted free agency in the spring.
Best Defensive Player
Bob Sanders, S, Colts
The Colts are playing championship-caliber defense. Sanders does everything, from coming up to help against the run to stabilizing the secondary to pressuring quarterbacks on blitzes. He showed during last season's run to the Super Bowl title that he is perhaps the biggest difference-maker on defense in the league, and he has managed to remain healthier than usual this season.
