All-star forward Caron Butler (strained left hip flexor) missed his seventh straight game last night and remains day-to-day. Butler, who has missed 10 of the last 12 games, said Wednesday that he needs to go through a full practice without experiencing pain before returning to the lineup.

With games tonight against Charlotte, Monday night at New Orleans and Tuesday night at Houston, the Wizards probably will not hold a full practice until Thursday.

"We think he can [return] after a physical practice, an intense practice, and then we will see how he will recover the next day," Coach Eddie Jordan said. "That will be the sign, on how he recovers the next day. Right now we have had minimal practices, and the next day he has soreness."

If Butler does not play against Charlotte, he could test the hip with an individual workout tomorrow.

Butler originally suffered the injury during a loss at Milwaukee on Jan. 27, missed the following three games and then returned for a loss to the Lakers on Feb. 3. He aggravated the injury two nights later during a loss at Philadelphia and has not played since.

Third-year forward-center Andray Blatche made his 11th start of the season last night.
