Change Is Possible

By Jeca Taudte

For ages 13 and older

Shorten your shower, ride the bus, watch sporting events in a group.

Here's how those suggestions from the author would improve the health of the planet:

Showering for five minutes or less saves as much as 1,000 gallons of water a month per person. Getting on the bus helps the entire country; the people who currently take public transportation help reduce U.S. gasoline consumption by 1.4 billion gallons a year (enough gas to fill the tanks of 108 million cars). And watching the big game with others cuts down on the energy used to run multiple TVs.

Tom Anderson, co-founder of the social-networking site MySpace, believes that small actions can lead to important change. This book is an extension of the OurPlanet site on MySpace and includes suggestions from online readers.

Anderson writes in the foreword: "You may not not realize how many choices you make each day that directly affect the planet." You will after reading this.
