A hint of optimism swept through the stocks of companies that lease and manage office space, even as the economic outlook has darkened. Buoyed by low interest rates, office REITs took off in December, climbing 52 percent through Jan. 6. Over the past year, the sector is down 39 percent. Duke Realty was up 106 percent and Brandywine Realty Trust rose 97 percent.
