The White House is his doghouse

The furry addition to the first family fulfilled President Obama's campaign promise to his daughters. The Portuguese water dog has been learning his way around the grounds at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. since his arrival in April 2009.

It has been quite a year for first dog Bo Obama. Last month the playful Portie (that's short for Portuguese water dog) marked his one-year anniversary in the White House, giving us a great excuse to look back at some Bo highlights.

This Story

Bo has been the buzzed-about guest at official functions, romped in the record-breaking snow, pulled his famous owners this way and that, and has even been reproduced as a Beanie Baby toy. He has also become pretty good at posing for pictures (when he's not biting the equipment). Here are some of our favorite shots from the past year.
