Don't Ignore Western Europe, Terrorism Expert Warns U.S.
Western Europe is a core recruiting ground for Muslim terrorists that is being overlooked given the U.S. focus on Iraq and the Middle East, according to Francis Fukuyama, academic dean of Johns Hopkins University's Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.

Panel Makes Parallels Between Iraq and New Orleans
Washington Post reporter Walter Pincus attended a panel at the American Political Science Association at the Wardman Park Marriott in Washington, D.C. The Sept. 2 panel focused on Iraq and a new book by author Larry Diamond, but the speakers also discussed the situation in the United States after Hurricane Katrina. Barbara Bodine, of Harvard University, noted that Louisiana officials say the public should not stand for lawlessness during the hurricane's aftermath. In contrast, she said the U.S. government tolerated looting in Iraq.
